Air New Zealand Te Tohu Reo

In recent years, there has been a swell of support for the protection and rejuvenation of the Māori language. Air New Zealand has been a leading champion of this both internally and externally, and as part of their efforts, they needed a symbol that would recognise Te Reo Māori speakers within their organisation. Working together with master carver Clive Fugill, our job was to bring this badge to life.

It quickly became much more than that. The Tohu was embraced by the nation as a symbol of recognition, celebration and championing the prosperity of this language, our language, into the future.

The Tohu has been adopted by other organisations too, including Te Taura Whiri I Te Reo Māori (The Māori Language Commission), as a means of injecting life into te reo across businesses, schools, communities and our country.
